Which NFL playoff teams get a first-round bye in 2023?
With a 14-3 record, the Chiefs earned the top seed in the AFC and a first-round bye for the second time in the last three years. The Eagles defeated the Giants on Sunday in Week 18 in the NFC to take first place and earn an additional week of preparation for the Divisional Round. Jalen Hurts, the Eagles' starting quarterback, made his game after missing the previous two due to a sprained shoulder, and it appears that the bye week will be crucial. Nick Sirianni stated following the game, "For him to play through what he pushed through to get back. There was no more gamble, yet he was harming. He was in severe pain. But he is exactly the type of leader and competitor that he is.

A first-round bye usually entitles the winner to home field advantage throughout the playoffs, but there is one possible exception this year: If the league decides not to resume the Bills-Bengals Monday night game, the AFC Championship game between the two teams would instead be played at a neutral site. The decision to choose the location will be up to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Regarding a potential neutral-site AFC Championship, a lot must be decided.
