A newcomer from Australia has surpassed the current No. 1 batter in the rankings.

                Tahlia McGrath

With the Australia star continuing her extraordinary recent rise to become the No. 1 ranked T20I batter on the most recent MRF Tyres ICC Women's Player Rankings, it has been further shown that Tahlia McGrath belongs among the top players in the world.

The 27-year-old joins compatriots Karen Rolton, Meg Lanning, and Beth Mooney as the only female Australian players to have held the top batter ranking in the shortest format of the game in the first 16 games of her T20I career, the same number of games it took India great Mithali Raj to achieve the feat in 2011.

The young McGrath, who only made her T20I debut for Australia in October of last year, has been in excellent form lately. She has scored a staggering 485 runs at an impressive average of 121.25 and an eye-catching strike rate of 149.69 during that time.

McGrath has scored an outstanding four half-centuries for her nation during that period; the most recent of them came on Sunday in Mumbai during Australia's nail-biting Super Over loss to India.

The aggressive right-hander McGrath moves up three spots in the most recent T20I rankings for batters thanks to her 110 runs from two unbeaten innings during the current series against India.

ICC, December 12, 2022 RANKING:

The only bad news for McGrath is that she unseats veteran teammate Mooney for the top spot, pushing the left-hander to second place on the rankings and one slot in front of India southpaw Smriti Mandhana. Mooney had held the top spot since August of this year.

After strong performances in the first T20I match against the West Indies, England's Danielle Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley moved up three spots to 13th and seven spots to 31st, respectively, in the rankings of T20I batters. Amelia Kerr of New Zealand moved up eight spots to 19th overall, and Richa Ghosh of India moved up 20 spots to 44th.

The two most notable movers on the most recent T20I bowler rankings are New Zealand's Fran Jonas (up six ranks to 14th) and Jess Kerr (up 11 spaces to 23rd), while Australia is happier on the most recent ODI rankings.

As the upcoming ODI series between Bangladesh and New Zealand gets underway, a number of players from both teams make striking ascents on the most recent list of batters, with veteran opener Suzie Bates being the most remarkable ascent.

After scoring an unblemished 93 in the opening game in Wellington, Bates moves up five spots to 17th overall. Teammate Maddy Green and Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana are also moving up, moving up four spots to 28th and 16 spots, respectively.
