Pakistan's men's team interim chief selector is Shahid Afridi.

The selection panel's task is to assess the Test team that was selected by the previous committee, which also includes Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum.

Shahid Afridi has been chosen as the interim chief selector of the Pakistani men's national team in addition to his former teammates Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Abdul Razzaq. The committee's task is to review the Test team that was announced by the committee led by Mohammad Wasim before he was fired as chief selector as part of a PCB reorganization. The position is currently only available for the upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Najam Sethi, the chair of the PCB management committee, expressed his hopes for "Shahid Afridi has been an aggressive player who played all of his cricket without fear. We anticipate brave and courageous actions "on behalf of the new committee. He has played cricket for for 20 years, made memorable appearances in all formats, and—most importantly—consistently supported and encouraged young talent.

"He is the only person, in our opinion, who can properly understand the rigors, demands, and challenges of the modern game. I am hopeful that he will use his knowledge of the sport and experience to help Pakistan select the best and most deserving players for the forthcoming series."

The new PCB management committee, which assumed office on Thursday, dissolved all committees created under the expired 2019 constitution, including the selection committee, on Friday.

Afridi was initially asked to join the management committee but turned it down since he wanted to focus on his charitable organization and couldn't do the job well. On the other hand, he attended the inaugural meeting of the new management committee on Friday through a video link.

I'm grateful that the PCB Management Committee has given me this responsibility, and I'll do everything in my capacity to carry it out as effectively as I can, Afridi said. "We need to get back to winning, and I have faith that by making merit-based and thoughtful selections, we will help the national team put on a strong performance in the series against New Zealand and regain the support of our supporters.

I'll convene a meeting with the selectors soon to go over my plans for the upcoming matches.

Iftikhar was already a coach at the PCB's National High Performance Center in Lahore before to the new appointment, while Razzaq, a former all-rounder who has built a reputation for himself as a coach, resigned from his position as Central Punjab's assistant coach in September of this year.
